Located 50 miles north of San Francisco, Santa Rosa is Sonoma County's largest city and the main commercial hub for the wine country. The city is distinguished by an abundance of trees and is surrounded by three small mountains. Perhaps Santa Rosa's most famous resident was the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, who created the Peanuts comic strip. Three of the city's most popular points of interest are Schulz-related: the Charles M. Schulz Museum, which centers on Schulz's work, the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, a.k.a. "Snoopy's Home Ice," and Snoopy's Gallery & Gift Shop, which sells and displays memorabilia featuring Schulz's characters.
